Richard's Ride 2017

May 20, 2017

This event has been organized to celebrate the life and contributions of Richard Tom, a cyclist whose life was tragically ended in April of 2015. His friends have formed a foundation in his name, the Richard Tom Foundation ("RTF"), and we have organized this ride in memory of Richard. This ride will be staged at Cochran's Ski Area. There are several road routes and two mountain bike options be available.

All rides will finish at the Cochran Ski Area, where food and beverages will be waiting, thanks to Dakin Farms, Stone Corral Brewery and other food and beverage sponsors. Please come join the fun and and support RTF!  Due to somewhat limited parking at Cochran's please car pool and also consider parking in Richmond and making a short ride to Cochran't Ski Area for the event.

Through this event, RTF will promote the health benefits of cycling and encourage the spirit of fun and adventure that was a significant part of Richard's life. Proceeds will support children's cycling programs and camps (including Little Bellas and Catamount's mountain biking camp), will support legislative efforts led be Local Motion, and a variety of other efforts to promote bike safety and adventure on bikes.

Participants in the Richard's 70 and Richard's 30 are welcome to participate in the Children's Ride and the Family Ride at no additional cost.  We will be drawing the winning raffle ticket for the Trek Madone ProjectOne bike at Richard's Ride 2017.  Please go to www.bikereg.com/richard-tom-foundation-bike-raffle to see photos of the bike and to buy your raffle tickets.

Please also consider a tax deductible contribution to the RT Foundation. The board of the RT Foundation will use your funs wisely to support a variety of efforts to improve the safety of our roads and make cycling available and children who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience the fun and adventure that happens on a bike.
